ISTD - A type Specimen for the Future

Brief
Create a Type Specimen for the chosen font family ‘Avant Garde’. Engage the audience using any method or media but the piece should centre around the type.
Idea
To create a moving type specimen that uses both computer motion graphics to animate and bring life to the text, as well as film to showcase the fonts usage in the modern world.

The opening of the film starts with computer animted text as it runs throught the history of the typeface informing but also engaging the viewer with the help of the accompnying music that slowly builds up towards the transition to film. The film focuses on the font in the real world and the piece finishes by informing the viewer on the styles of font family before ending with a title head.
The contrast between aniamtion and film creates a bold and exciting cut emphasising the modern uses and the juxtaposition to the original meaning and creative direction of the font. Although commenting on irony of the fonts modern uses it celebrates where and how it is used globally.
The use of sound is so importnant in all motion design and for this project I designed a piece of music that elevates all the themes within the film. The Music furthers the attempts to create a dynamic and engaging video that keeps the viewer watching till the end.
